Artisan jailed 12 months for stealing motorcycle

An Area Court in Jos on Tuesday, sentenced  Mohamed Bashir, to 12 months imprisonment for  stealing a motorcycle valued at N850,000.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The Judge however gave the convict an option of N 100, 000 fine   or 12 months imprisonment and asked the convict to pay a compensation of N900, 000 or 24 months in default.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the “C“ Division Police station, on January 11, by Mr Auwal Adam.

He said the complainant, said the accused person, stole his Jincheng motorcycle he parked in front of his shop at Ajayi Street.

The prosecutor told the court that during police investigation, the accused person confessed to have committed the offence.

He said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
