The APC NEC also extended the tenure of the party’s caretaker extraordinary convention planning committee led by Governor Mai Mala Buni by 6 months.
The ruling party further approved the expulsion of former National Vice Chairman, South-south, Hillard Eta, for his failure to withdraw the court case instituted against the caretaker committee.
The decisions were taken at the NEC meeting attended by President Muhammadu Buhari; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and other members of the NEC.
The National Executive Council also directed that new members of APC be granted waivers so they can contest for elections without having to wait for two years which was done previously.
Earlier, President Buhari in his remarks appealed to party members at all levels to make sacrifices that will move the party forward.
The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Baguda, were among those who attended the meeting physically.
