APC Accused of Betrayal Over Acceptance of Political Opponents

A rights activist in Rivers State, Charles Jaja, has criticised the All Progressives Congress leadership for accepting former political opponents into the party without accountability or consultation with loyal members.

In a statement, Jaja said the APC in Rivers State was built on sacrifice, claiming that loyalists between 2014 and 2022 suffered intimidation, job losses, and violence while defending the party.

He alleged that over 20 persons were killed across Rivers State due to their association with the APC, listing names including Ahiakwo Ajie, Chukwumela Ajie, Ekwela Ogorji and his wife, Okowudiri Ogbor, Franklin Obi, his wife, and son, among others.

Jaja also accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of abandoning loyal members while welcoming former opposition figures, specifically referencing Kingsley Chinda of the Peoples Democratic Party, whom he alleged is seeking APC opportunities without formally resigning his party position.

He described the situation as betrayal and a setback for Nigeria’s democracy.
