Anti-government protests in Lebanon

Anti-government protests in Lebanon have entered into the third day, with reports of clashes over failure to remove uncollected rubbish from streets. Meanwhile; Prime Minister TAMMAM SALAM has threatened to resign as thousands demonstrated for a second day in Beirut on Sunday. A unity government of Sunni and Shia parties formed by Prime Minister SALAM is accused of being constrained by sectarian rivalries, which has been worsened by the conflict in neighbouring Syria. The protesters blame political paralysis and corruption for the failure to resolve the crisis. Lebanon does not have a president and parliament remains in a stalemate.
