INEC National Commissioner, AMINA ZAKARI gave this indication contrary to what appears to be a popular opinion that inconclusive elections are as a result of weak electoral processes.
AMINA ZAKARI, who is also the Chairman of the Board of the National Electoral Institute, argued that strengthened electoral process has made steady progress.
She said the emergence of strong parties; fielding strong candidates in keenly contested elections are some of the realities of the present dispensation.
The INEC Commissioner also underscored what she described as evidence based elections with the use of technology, especially the Smart Card Reader and the E-Track, which results in more transparent process.
AMINA ZAKARI made the observations at a Round Table Dialogue in Abuja, organized by the Electoral Institute with support from Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation.
ZAKARI further explained that additional checks and balances such as the source of ad-hoc election personnel, customized sensitive materials and increased awareness and application of electoral laws and INEC guidelines all combine to make the process better.
The event was also attended by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral and Political Party Affairs, AISHATU JIBRIN DUKKU, who expressed optimism that participants would be better informed about inconclusive elections.
