African leaders meeting under the African Union have decided to pull out from the International Criminal Court.
The decision was reached at an emergency meeting of the AU in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa over the weekend.
The two-day summit presided over by AU Chairman and Chadian President, IDRISS DERBY, noted that the ICC was being used to target African leaders.
In a proposal that led to the resolution, Kenyan President UHURU KENYATTA, said he and his deputy WILLIAM RUTO have been subjected to cases built with weak investigations and pursued with politicised zeal by the ICC.The African Union leaders resolved to draw up a road map that will lead to the withdrawal from the International Criminal Court.
