Justice ADENIYI ADEMOLA gave the ruling based on an application by counsel to the Department of State Services, MOHAMMED DIRI.
Justice ADEMOLA held that there were no strong enough reasons to warrant the protection of witnesses in DASUKI’s trial.
Justice ADEMOLA also ordered the DSS to grant the defendant access to his lawyers and two members of his family.
The order was made on a request by DASUKI’s lawyer, AHMED RAJI, after which the case was adjourned to 18th and 19th of May for further hearing.
But before then; Justice ADEMOLA ADENIYI, dismissed an application by DASUKI, seeking to have the charges against dim dropped.
The trial judge declared that the former National Security Adviser did not follow the proper process in filing his contempt charge against the Federal Government. The Judge said it was out of place for Colonel DASUKI to ask that the charges against him be dropped for reasons that he did not consider weighty. You will recall that DASUKI had told the court that the Federal Government no longer had the moral and legal rights to continue his trial, having disobeyed the order of bail granted him since 3rd November last year.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ruled out a secret trial for former National Security Adviser, retired Colonel SAMBO DASUKI.
