It was gathered that one soldier was also wounded in the attack where soldiers of Nigerian Army Super Camp three and the 231 Battalion, both under Sector 2 of Operation Lafiya Dole were moving supplies from Damaturu, Yobe State, to Biu in Borno State, when they drove into a Boko Haram ambush.
A fierce firefight that followed left at least one soldier wounded and large military equipment destroyed and a gun truck for the 231 Battalion was seized and taken away by the insurgents who also made away with fifteen million naira cash allowance for soldiers on the front lines.
Meanwhile, troops of the Nigerian Army engaged the Boko Haram fighters, killing scores of them in Gworege community in the Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel SAGIR MUSA in a statement said the troops of the 22 Brigade at the Super Camp in Dikwa fought the terrorists in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force members, recovering six AK-47 rifles and sixty-six rounds of ammunition.
Colonel MUSA added that a hunter was injured in the ensuing fight.
