Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE has closed his defence at the Governorship Elections Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
Governor WIKE’s legal team called in a total of twenty-four witnesses who testified in affirmation of smooth conduct of elections in Rivers State on 11th of April.At the resumed hearing yesterday, which was the last day for the second respondent, the lead defence lawyer, EMMANUEL OKALA tendered newspaper clippings with reference to where former INEC Chairman, Professor ATTAHIRU JEGA declared that the Rivers State Governorship Election was free and fair.The Certificate of Return issued to Governor WIKE by INEC was also admitted as evidence by the tribunal headed by Justice SULEIMAN AMBROSSA.
Meanwhile; the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State is expected to open its defence when the tribunal resume sitting on Thursday, and will take six days to conclude its case.
