The Senate took the decision based on a Point of Order raised by Senator ISA MISAU from Bauchi State over a plan by the Police to arraign Senator MELAYE before a court in Lokoja.
Senator MISAU observed that if Senator MELAYE was arraigned in Lokoja, it could cause a breakdown of law and order.
On his part; Senator DINO MELAYE told the Senate that he was yet to receive any court summon for his planned arraignment in Lokoja.
Other Senators who spoke on the issue expressed the need for urgent measures to address the problems confronting Senator MELAYE, based on which the investigating committees were charged to report their findings in forty-eight hours.
You will recall that the Nigeria Police High Command had through the Force spokesman, JIMOH MOSHOOD, revealed that Senator DINO MELAYE would be declared wanted if he failed to appear before the court in Lokoja.
