NIKKI HALEY told an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council in New York that the US did not want a war.
However, with Pyongyang’s latest and most powerful nuclear bomb test, HALEY said the US patience was not unlimited.
The remark by the US envoy was made in anticipation of a new UN resolution to toughen sanctions against North Korea.
But President VLADIMIR PUTIN of Russia said sanctions against the reclusive regime are useless, ineffective and exhausted.
Also; China, which is the North’s main ally, has called for a return to negotiations, while Switzerland has offered to mediate.
Meanwhile, South Korea’s navy carried out live-fire naval drills on Tuesday, warning that it will hit back if provoked by the North.
