Cameroon deports 570 Nigerians.

The number includes three hundred and thirteen people who fled the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East in search of asylum.

 

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees has expressed concern about the action by the Cameroonian authorities.

 

The UNHCR urged Cameroon to offer asylum and respect international conventions against the forced repatriation of asylum seekers.

 

A report quoted the UN agency also disclosing that it planned to sign an agreement with Cameroon and Nigeria on 2nd March for the voluntary return of eighty-five thousand Nigerian refugees.
