Hearing continued yesterday at the Rivers State House of Assembly and National Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja. The session featured the Chief of Army Staff being called in to testify in the petition filed by BARINADA MPIGI who is the APC Candidate for Oyigbo-Eleme-Tai Federal Constituency. Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the Chief of Army Staff was not present but sent in three senior officers to assist the tribunal.
The army officers were those that supervised the elections around Tai, Eleme and Oyigbo local government areas on the 28th of March, 2015. Two of the army officers in the rank of Captain, were cross-examined by counsel to the respondents and they all confirmed widespread irregularities during the national election.
