This was confirmed in a statement by SALIHU OTHMAN ISAH, who is the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, ABUBAKAR MALAMI.
ISAH said the NDDC had written to the Minister to express its desire to take advantage of the OGP principles with a view to deliver on its core mandate to the people of the Niger Delta region.
He said the NDDC’ request was made in a letter by its Managing Director, NSIMA EKERE, in which he expressed the objective of the new management to transform the commission into a more transparent and accountable institution.
Meanwhile; the Special Assistant to the President on Justice Reform JULIET IBEKAKU, who doubles as the Coordinator of Open Government Platform, has commended the NDDC for its commitment and enthusiasm to the guiding principles of the platform.
IBEKAKU said the Justice Ministry would be very delighted to develop the OGP Platform for the NDDC towards ensuring that the Commission meets its core objectives.
She advised other Ministries, Departments and Agencies to follow the NDDC’s example and tap from the advantages offered by the Open Government Platform.
