NJC,NBA to decide fate of accused corrupt judges.

A meeting has been fixed for Thursday this week where the leadership of the NJC and the NBA would harmonise their positions on the scandal involving the alleged corrupt judges.

The Second Vice President of the NBA, MONDAY UBANI confirmed the proposed meeting with the NJC led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria in an interview with newsmen over the weekend.

You will recall that the NBA had recommended the suspension of the alleged corrupt judges pending the outcome of ongoing investigations into the allegations and prosecution.

MONDAY UBANI explained that the call by the NBA was intended to protect the judiciary from further ridicule that would arise from having the judges face corruption trial while still occupying their positions.

The NBA’s position is backed by the body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, which reached its decision during a meeting over the weekend with the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice in attendance.

But the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice MAHMUD MOHAMMED dismissed the NBA recommendation on the basis that the NJC was yet to receive a report on the investigations of the judges by the Department of State Security Service.
