One person is missing after flooding caused by a heavy downpour at Ring Road, Agu Awka, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Six children were rescued from the affected area by emergency responders following the incident.
Officials of the Awka South Local Government Area who were at the scene said the situation had been brought under control, while rescue and response operations were being coordinated by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA.
The rescued children were taken to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, for medical attention.
Meanwhile, emergency responders are continuing efforts to locate the missing person as authorities assess the impact of the flooding in the area.
