They are Kagera’s regional administrative secretary, AMANTIUS MSOLE and Bukoba city municipal council director STEVEN MAKONDA.
President JOHN MAGUFULI took the action after it was found that the officials had opened a fake bank account to siphon money from an earthquake fund.
A statement from Office of the President said the two dismissed officials opened a bank account which reportedly bears the same name as the one opened by the government.
The statement further disclosed that an accountant had been suspended for being part of the plan to take money collected for earthquake victims.
Foreign governments made donation to Tanzania’s earthquake fund following the death of at least sixteen people in an earthquake in the northern Kagera region on 10th September.
