Court Fixes Trial Dates for Men Accused of Attempted Murder of Gani Topba

A Rivers State High Court has fixed November 10, November 24 and December 8, 2026, for the trial of four men charged with the attempted murder of the leader of the Conscience of the Ogoni People, Gani Topba.

The defendants are facing charges bordering on conspiracy, attempted murder, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms.

The prosecution alleged that the suspects ambushed and shot Topba several times in March 2023 in Zaakpo, Khana Local Government Area, leaving him critically injured. The court adjourned the case after the defence sought more time for consultations.
