President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to ensure that every Nigerian is enrolled in the National Identity Database before the end of 2026.
NIMC Director-General, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, said the commission is partnering with the World Bank-supported Identification for Development (ID4D) project to accelerate nationwide enrolment and expand access to a reliable national identity system.
She explained that the initiative is aimed at ensuring all Nigerians, including those in rural and underserved communities, are captured in the national database to strengthen identity management, improve access to public services and promote inclusive national development.
