MOSOP Lists Conditions for Oil Production Resumption in Ogoniland

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has outlined conditions it says must be met before oil production can resume in Ogoniland.

MOSOP President, Andah Wai-Ogosu, called on the Federal Government to unbundle OML 11 to enable Ogoni people to form cooperatives and participate directly in oil exploration in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.

He also urged the government to fully fund the Federal University of Environment, provide employment opportunities for qualified Ogoni youths in the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, complete the Eleme section of the East-West Road, and create Bori State.

Wai-Ogosu said the measures are necessary to address decades of neglect and marginalisation of the Ogoni people.
