Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after defeating the Benin Republic 5-3 in the second leg of their qualifying tie at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé, Togo.
The victory completed an 8-5 aggregate win for the Nigerian side, earning them one of Africa’s four qualification slots for the global tournament.
The Flamingos produced a spirited performance in the thrilling encounter to overcome their West African rivals and maintain Nigeria’s impressive record in the competition.
With the qualification secured, the team will now turn its attention to preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, where they will aim to improve on their previous performances on the world stage.
