This was made known in a statement issued by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, claiming that some unscrupulous elements have created social media accounts in the name of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
The statement signed by the Deputy Director in charge of Press and Public Relations, IFEANYI OKEREKE disclosed that one IZUAGIE MOHAMMED has been arrested in connection with the scam.
According to the statement; IZUAGIE MOHAMMED was picked up by security operatives in Benin City, Edo State on 24th August on suspicion of impersonating the AGF.
It is alleged that MOHAMMED used a bogus Facebook account where he posed as the Accountant-General of Nigeria to defraud some unwary members of the public, by promising to help them access to the Central Bank Empowerment Loan, among other dubious claims.
The statement noted that the AGF, AHMED IDRIS, is a thorough-breed professional, adding that he does not transact business on Facebook or any other social media platform nor facilitate access to loans for anyone.
