However; our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the BBOG demonstrators today were forced to confine their activity around the famous Unity Fountain.
Policemen stormed the Unity Fountain area as the demonstrators were getting ready to begin their procession and stopped them from leaving the area.
The leader of the police contingent, who identified himself as ABIODUN ALAMATU, said they had orders to stop the protesters from embarking on a march to the Presidential Villa.
The Police Officer observed that the manner in which the BBOG group was going about its activism was getting out of hand.
In her response; one of the BBOG leaders, AISHA YESUFU, challenged the security operatives not to stop them from exercising their fundamental right in a democratic environment.
Earlier today; the spokesman of the FCT Police Command, ANJUGURI MANZAH, issued a statement, drawing attention to what he described as indiscriminate actions by the protesters.
The Police Public Relations Officer observed that the group sometimes conducts its activities in disorderly and riotous manner, which he said create unwarranted tension and apprehension among citizens, and in the process, obstruct legitimate business activities.
The FCT Police Command advised any person or group of persons who wish to embark on any form of demonstration to notify the Commissioner of Police FCT in writing and secure approval.
