KONATE SET TO LEAVE LIVERPOOL ON FREE TRANSFER

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is set to leave the club on a free transfer after failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension with the Premier League side.

Reports indicate that negotiations between the France international and Liverpool over a new deal have broken down, with the defender now expected to depart Anfield when his contract expires.

Konate joined Liverpool from German side RB Leipzig in 2021 and has gone on to make over one hundred and eighty appearances for the club. During his time at Anfield, he won the Premier League title, FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.

The twenty-seven-year-old centre-back has been linked with several European clubs in recent months, although he is yet to decide on his next destination.

Konate’s expected departure comes amid major changes at Liverpool, with reports also linking other senior players with possible exits following the end of the season.

Liverpool are reportedly preparing for life after the French defender, having strengthened their defensive options ahead of the new season.
