LAI MOHAMMED wants international investors to explore the opportunities in Nigeria’s non-oil exports as alternatives for economic growth and development.
MOHAMMED made the call in a presentation at the ongoing 2016 Edinburgh International Festival Summit in Scotland.
He said the investment potentials can be appreciated through the approximately twenty-four million households with television sets; one hundred and fifty television channels, as well as a greater number of radio stations scattered across the country.
The Information and Culture Minister also underscored the penetration of smart phone usage, among other factors, as indications that Nigeria was ready for business in the creative industry.
Alhaji MOHAMMED said Nigeria was endowed with abundant cultural heritage, but the challenge has been how to harness the potentials and create an economy out of it.
The Minister said the government intends to preserve the cultural heritage of Nigeria by reviving a number of festivals that have not been held regularly over the years.
He particularly mentioned the Argugun Fishing Festival and the Durbar, as well as traditional wrestling and various age-long traditional games.
