The death toll from Lassa fever in Benue State has increased to 10 following the ongoing outbreak in the state.
State Epidemiologist, Dr. Msuega Asema, disclosed the figure during a visit by the State Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Dr. Paul Ejeh-Ogwuche, to isolation centres at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi.
Earlier in the month, the commissioner officially declared a Lassa fever outbreak in the state after a rise in suspected cases was recorded. Health authorities are continuing surveillance and treatment efforts to contain the spread of the disease.
