The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its planned nationwide strike, which was due to begin on Monday, 12 January 2026. The decision comes after direct intervention from Vice President Kashim Shettima to address the doctors’ grievances.
The strike had been threatened over issues including unpaid allowances and unimplemented agreements with the federal government.
The suspension brings temporary relief to hospitals and patients, at least for now.
