500 Elderly Citizens Receive Cash Support Under First Lady Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative in Rivers

No fewer than 500 elderly citizens in Rivers State have benefited from a cash support scheme under a social investment initiative of the wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu.

The initiative, packaged under the Renewed Hope Initiative in partnership with the Rivers State Government, is aimed at appreciating senior citizens for their contributions to nation-building.

Speaking through the wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Fubara, Mrs Tinubu said the scheme targets elderly persons aged 65 years and above. Lady Fubara reaffirmed the commitment of the Rivers State Government to improving the welfare and living conditions of the elderly in the state.

Earlier, the Rivers State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Tonye Briggs Onyinide, advised beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to support their basic needs.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Federal and State Governments for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
