In a separate development, US Congressman Bill Huizenga has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as its failure to confront Nigeria’s escalating insecurity.
Huizenga made the remarks while testifying before the US House Subcommittee on Africa, where he addressed growing concerns over violent attacks, kidnappings, and instability across several regions of Nigeria.
The congressman directly faulted the Tinubu administration’s response to the crisis, accusing Nigeria’s official delegation in Washington of attempting to downplay the severity of the security challenges during engagements with US lawmakers.
His comments have added to mounting international scrutiny over Nigeria’s security situation and the government’s efforts to contain it.
