Governor Fubara Condemns Misinformation, Affirms Peace in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has condemned what he described as a deliberate campaign of misinformation aimed at portraying the state as unsafe. He reaffirmed that Rivers State remains peaceful and fully open for business, tourism, and major events.

The Governor made the remarks on Sunday night during the grand finale of the Python Golf Club’s 6th Edition Chief Ikenna Okafor 2025 Pro-Amateur Golf Championship in Port Harcourt. He noted that the large turnout of visitors from across Africa demonstrated that negative media narratives are engineered, exaggerated, and politically motivated.

Governor Fubara further stated that some adversaries have “weaponised” the state’s challenges to distort public perception for their own gain.

Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, lauded the prevailing peace in Rivers State, saying it motivated the military to host the tournament in Port Harcourt. He added that the successful conclusion of the event validated their decision and expressed appreciation to the Governor for his presence and encouraging remarks, which assured continued state support for future editions.
