Governor WIKE made the call against the backdrop of the forthcoming rescheduled rerun elections in parts of the state.
The Governor warned that the people of Rivers State would resist any plot to use instruments of state to rig the elections.
He was speaking at the Government House in Port Harcourt when C.P FRANCIS MOBOLAJI ODESANYA paid him a courtesy visit.
Governor WIKE also stressed the need for the Nigeria Police Force to weed off compromised officers with political affiliation.
WIKE said he has already written to the Inspector-General of Police, ABUBAKAR IDRIS, on the issue.
He promised that the state government will supply additional vehicles to the State Police Command as part of its sustained support for the fight against crimes and criminality in the state.
A statement released by the Press Unit of the Rivers State Government House quoted that Commissioner of Police, assuring that the police under his leadership would work towards mopping up illegal arms in the state as a means to improve security of life and property.
