HYPREP Seeks to Build Self-Reliant Ogoni Youth Through Career Workshop

The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people in Ogoniland, stating that its goal is to raise a generation of self-reliant youths capable of contributing meaningfully to their communities.

This was disclosed during the second edition of the Career Enhancement and Employability Workshop organized for fresh graduates from Ogoni at Bori, Rivers State.

Speaking at the event, HYPREP Project Coordinator, Professor Neenibarini Zabbey, emphasized the agency’s vision to equip Ogoni youths with the skills and mindset needed to become productive and socially responsible individuals.

“The aim is not just to help young people find jobs but to encourage them to give back to their communities and become agents of positive change,” Professor Zabbey said.

One of the workshop facilitators, Dr. Akanimo Odion, Director of African Partnerships at Lancaster University, challenged the participants to be deliberate about their personal and professional growth. He urged them to take ownership of their futures by being intentional in their decisions and actions.

The workshop featured training sessions on career development, entrepreneurship, and personal effectiveness, aimed at improving the employability and life skills of participants.
