LIDUDUMALINGANI clinched the coveted award which comes with fifteen thousand dollars in cash through his short story entitled “Memories We Lost”.
The South African writer, who doubles as film-maker wrote about siblings coping with schizophrenia, drawing on his experiences in a small village in Eastern Cape Province.
Aside the cash reward, LIDUDUMALINGANI is also to enjoy a residency at Georgetown University in Washington.
The Caine Prize for African Writing was presented during a ceremony at Oxford University.
