Five indigenes of Bille Kingdom have regained their freedom after spending nearly two weeks in captivity, having been kidnapped by suspected sea pirates at the New Calabar River.
The victims were abducted on [specific date] and managed to escape their harrowing ordeal recently. One of the released captives, identified only as Bio Bele, shared his experience with Rhythm News, detailing the traumatic conditions they faced during their time in captivity.
Bio Bele alleged that a ransom of 28 million naira was paid to secure their release, illustrating the financial toll of their abduction.
Another victim, Okoribo, recounted the pirates’ actions, stating that they confiscated their personal belongings before transporting them to their hideout.
