The officers had refused to present themselves for vetting in a process to root out corruption, which began since 2013.
According a popular Kenya website it said :
“Three hundred and two police officers have been sacked for refusing to appear before the vetting board.NPSC chairman Johnston Kavuludi said they refused to hand over their credentials and documents.Kavuludi said the officers, who rank from chief inspectors to police inspectors, were asked to surrender possessions such as guns to those in charge.He addressed the media at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu on Thursday.The commission said it will continue vetting police officers from the traffic department.NPSC said via Twitter that six chief inspectors and six inspectors of police will be interviewed on day one of vetting of traffic officers from Nyanza today.The panel led by Kavuludi resumed in March for the second phase, vetting the regular police officers.The overall objective of the exercise is to build confidence and trust in the police service.”
The head of Kenya’s National Police Service Commission, JOHNSTON KAVULUDI, announced the dismissal of the officers in the western city of Kisumu.
The vetting is a public process, done before the full glare of the cameras, and officers have their finances scrutinized and any conflicts of interest probed:
