The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, IBRAHIM MAGU, has reminded would-be violators of provisions of the Public Procurement Act that they risk between five to ten years imprisonment.

 

IBRAHIM MAGU also noted that civil servants found guilty under the Act might face dismissal from service, just as he lamented widespread procurement fraud in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.The EFCC Chairman was speaking during the Anti-Corruption Sensitization Programmeorganised by the agency for the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.He urged civil servants to update their knowledge about provisions of the Public Procurement Act, warning that EFCC would not spare anyone found to be involved in fraud against the Nigerian people.He said EFCC was currently working in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Account-General of the Federation and has uncovered thirty-seven Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety-five ghost workers in the Federal civil service.MAGU the Federal Government had been losing close to one Billion Naira to the ghost workers monthly.
