It has been established that the division in the leadership of the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress is behind the delay in the remittance of check-off dues of civil servants to their unions.

Our correspondent, CHINEDU IWUNNA, reports that the factional NLC leader, WILLIAMS ADAH petitioned the State Government demanding that the check-off dues be withheld pending the resolution of the leadership crisis in the Congress.WILLIAMS ADAH told our correspondent in an interview that his faction was comfortable with the decision of the state government to withhold the check off dues.ADAH also accused the BEATRICE ITUBO-led executive of NLC of benefiting from alleged excess deductions made on workers’ salaries.Meanwhile; the peace talk which was said to have been facilitated by the National leadership of NLC has been stalled.WILLIAMS ADAH alleged that BEATRICE ITUBO and her group declined to participate in the peace process. However, BEATRICE ITUBO denied knowledge of any peace committee, stressing that she was not informed about it.
