In a statement, Umahi expressed his disappointment with Julius Berger’s pricing, saying, one of the bypasses, which is seventeen point two seven kilometres by two on asphalt, was awarded to the company.
He said the company had presented a figure almost twice the government estimate, at two hundred and seventy nine billion naira.
He further disclosed that the project will be referred back to the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP and more contractors will be invited to bid.
Umahi said the Federal Ministry of Works reviewed Berger’s performance on all ongoing projects awarded to the company, raising concerns over the unacceptable condition of some projects, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway phase 2.
