The Rivers State Government has resolved to take action to protect indigenous languages of its people from going into extinction.
The State Executive Council has approved the setting up of a board to work out modalities for the revival of indigenous languages and promote the teaching of such in schools.The Commissioner for Information, AUSTIN TAM-GEORGE gave this indication while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor NYESOM WIKE.The Information Commissioner said the Council took not that Rivers youth and children hardly speak indigenous languages nowadays.
