While the state Government claims it has implemented the minimum wage, workers are in disagreement with the Governor of the state.
Some state government workers, who spoke to Today FM, said there has been no salary increase since the President signed the bill in 2019, while some said a little addition which does not reflect the true minimum wage was added to their salary.
The Chairman of Civil Service Union in the state, Chukwuka Osummah in an interview with Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe, said despite meetings of the unions with Governor Wike, nothing has changed.
Osummah said they are no longer making moves for the implementation, until the new administration comes in.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on April 2019, signed into law, the thirty thousand-Naira minimum wage, after a long battle with Organized Labor.
