Ogbonna was said to have been carried away on gunpoint to an unknown destination by unidentified criminals around Rumuigbo community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, who is said to be a popular candidate for the Saturday’s election was kidnapped at about 8:30pm around Rumuigbo area of Port Harcourt, leaving behind his friend who was in the same vehicle with him.
The incident was confirmed by Ifeakachukwu Nwakiri, who identified himself as the brother to the victim and claimed the kidnap was politically motivated.
He noted that the police have been alerted.
Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the brother of the kidnapped victim also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to consider suspending the State House of Assembly election for Onelga constituency two slated for Saturday, pending the release of his brother.
