The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced plans to begin the conduct re-run elections for national and state assembly positions in Rivers State on 6th of February.This was made known by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, GHESILA KHAN, at a political stakeholders meeting in Port Harcourt.
However; GESILA KHAN said that the date of the re-run elections was subject to change if the need arises.The outgoing Resident Electoral Commissioner said the elections will cover Abua-Odual, Ahoada West, Etche, Khana, ONELGA, Ogu-Bolo, Okrika, Oyigbo and Port Harcourt local government areas.
In his response; Rivers State Chairman of the PDP, FELIX OBUAH complained about the short notice given by INEC.OBUAH who doubles as the State Chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, appealed to INEC to review the re-run schedule.Correspondent LEVI ISU reports that the APC was represented at the meeting by its State Secretary, EMEKE BEKE who abandoned the interaction without giving any reason.
