The development followed a motion of urgent national importance by the minority leader, Ndudi Elumelu.
During plenary, concerns were raised about the deteriorating working conditions of staff, as well as the welfare of inmates.
The lawmakers also noted that the Arms Unit of the service still parades substandard weapons, despite the one billion naira budget provision in the 2020/2021 budget.
