Research institutes in Nigeria commence strike

 Today FM’s Chinedu Iwunna reports that the strike followed the expiration of fifteen days ultimatum issued to the federal government by the workers under the Non Academic Staff Union of Educational and other Associated institutions, research institute branch.

Speaking in an interview with Today FM, the Chairman of the Research Institute workers in Rivers state, Augustine Iwenya said non Academic staff working in research institutes deserve equal treatment as non-Academic staff working in other federal government institutions.

Also speaking the state Chairman of the Non Academic Staff union of Educational and other associated institutions, Azubuike Nkasiobu said the federal government has continued to ignore the demands of the workers despite a National Industrial court judgement in favour of the workers.
