Power Minister wants law to punish power facility vandals

The Minister who was represented by the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Sule Ahmed-Abdulaziz made the call during a town hall meeting organized by the Federal Ministry of Information on vandalisation of power and telecommunications installation in Maiduguri, the Bornu state capital.

Aliyu, who was lamenting the reoccurring vandalism of power equipment by insurgents in North Eastern part of the country, said that the government will spend more than eight hundred and eighty million naira to fix electric transmission towers in Bornu state.

He also decried the continuous killing of staff of the agency by the insurgents while reconstructing and rehabilitating power facilities.

Earlier, the Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said that the federal government plans on reorienting citizens to protect public facilities.
