A new president has been elected in Burkina Faso in the person of ROCH MARC CHRISTIAN KABORE.The Burkinabe electoral commission announced that KABORE secured fifty-three point five percent of the vote of the election on Sunday.
The electoral body declared that the main rival and former Economy and Finance Minister ZEPHIRIN DIABRE gained twenty-one percent of the vote.
KABORE, who is a former prime minister, is stepping through the first election in that country after longstanding President BLAISE COMPAORE was toppled in a popular uprising last year.A transitional government has been in place in the country, which also survived a failed coup in September by members of the elite presidential guard.
