The DSS in a statement by its spokesman, Peter Afunanya, said personnel was detained following the alleged shooting of a vendor, Ifeanyi Okereke in Abuja.
Afunanya added that as part of its disciplinary procedures in the instance, the Officer has been taken into detention a detailed investigation into the matter has been opened.
While sympathizing with the family of the Vendor, the DSS spokesman assured Nigerians that the service would be transparent and accountable in handling the matter.
Newspaper vendors in Abuja had taken to streets to protest the killing of one of their colleagues, Ifeanyi Okereke Kelechi.
One of the protesters narrated what transpired before the shooting incident.
