The eight point one magnitude quake was felt in Mexico City, with people running into the street, while the epicentre is about eighty-seven kilometers south-west of the town of Pijijiapan and a depth of seventy kilometers.
The quake has triggered a tsunami warning for Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama and Honduras.
