2 Dead as wild Cyclone hits Madagascar .

Reports say tropical Cyclone Enawo made landfall in Madagascar with strong winds and heavy rainfall.

 

The cyclone hit Ampahana, a small town in north-east Madagascar, destroying houses, uprooting trees and spreading floods almost everywhere. 

 

Electricity supply and telephone network in the town have been cut off, thereby making it difficult to collect information for official records. 

 

A substantial part of the north and north-east of the Indian Ocean Island has been damaged.

 

The storm was expected to strike the capital, Antananarivo, and its surroundings around noon.

 

Following the development; event marking the International Women’s Day in Antananarivo have been cancelled.
