The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), has commenced enforcement and monitoring of price and goods regulations in Rivers State.

The South-South Zonal Coordinator, Uchegbu Chukwuma, and his team conducted operations in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, seizing goods in violation of regulations.

Chukwuma emphasized that unions are driving price hikes and vowed to prosecute offenders.

Chukwuma stated that the goal is not only to reduce prices but also to promote fair competition, with fines of up to ten million and one hundred million naira for violators.

A rice trader from Woji denied responsibility for price increases, attributing them to producers, as he urged the commission to hold producers accountable for price inflation.

Today FM's Sandra Kenneth reports that the FCCPC seized over a thousand sardines for not having NAFDAC registration number and confiscated rice that has been banned in the country.

In the meantime, the commission has issued letters to defaulters, summoning them for further investigation into distribution channels.
